TCHS FBLA advisor, Sherry H. Beasley, is partnering with the Telfair County Chamber of Commerce to create a Junior Chamber Board to provide students with leadership skills and an awareness of how businesses impact our community. What is  the Chamber of Commerce Junior Board of Directors about?

 The Mission of the Telfair County Chamber of Commerce is to advocate for the county by bringing all resources together to enhance the quality of life.

The Vision of the Telfair County Chamber of Commerce is to grow a vibrant, friendly     community through Economic Development, Tourism, and Partnerships.

Mission of the  Junior Board is to develop leadership skills for sustaining the business  environment and affecting change in our schools, neighborhoods, and communities.

What do Junior Board Members do? 
 Discover the community of Telfair County and the businesses and organizations within
¨ Learn formal meeting protocol, community outreach strategy, public speaking,
     group decision-making
¨ Develop project ideas and follow through with project management and implementation
 
Benefits of being a Junior Board Member
¨ Gain a high quality, organized and focused volunteer experience
¨ Learn to collaborate with local businesses, city government and other community agents and organizations
¨ Learn how to lead and follow for community improvement
¨ Serve as Ambassadors for the Telfair County Chamber of Commerce
 
Who can apply?
Telfair County High School FBLA members who:
¨ Are interested in helping their community
¨ Who want to learn about community outreach, leadership development, action planning and group decision-making
¨ Who like working in groups, expressing opinions, and having fun

 

 


Junior Board members will serve from October 2022 to April 2023. 
 Participation Requirements
¨ Monthly Chamber of Commerce meetings will typically be held the second Tuesday of each month at 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.  (Members must  attend at least 4 out of 8 meetings. The October 11th board meeting is mandatory.)
¨ Volunteer to obtain at least 2 new memberships for the Chamber.
¨ Committee and Planning Meetings will be called as needed.
¨ Volunteer to work at the Chamber office (Monday-Friday). Number of Hours to be
     determined.
 ¨ Volunteer for at least 4 Chamber  Events for setup, cleanup and during an event:
*Christmas Night Out — Dec 1, 2022 6 p.m.—8 p.m.
*Christmas Parade — Dec. 2, 2022  4 p.m.—6 p.m.
*Annual Chamber Banquet —  February 23, 2023 5 p.m.—9 p.m.
Setup Dates/Times TBA
*Annual Peaches to the Beaches Yard Sale — March 10-11, 2023 8 a.m.—6 p.m.
  Setup Dates/Times TBA
*Annual Administrative Professional Luncheon — Apr.26, 2023    11 a.m.—1 p.m.
*Grand Openings/Ribbon Cuttings — TBA
 
Volunteer hours will be verified for those needing to complete them.
Students must coordinate their own transportation to and from meetings, events and volunteer opportunities. 
 What is the Dress Code?
¨ Jeans or business casual wear          
¨ No shorts
¨ Clothing cannot have holes
¨ No flip flops or crocs
